No value - aka [none] : a question for all of you

We are thinking about letting you decide the wording to use when a Dimension has no value (e.g. in filters, or on a card, etc.)

We used to call that [none]. In a continuous effort to make Klaro Cards clearer for newcomers, we recently named it No value.

We could go futher an allow you to decide the label to use, on a dimension basis.

Examples on typical dimensions:

  • Unstarted, Todo, Ongoing, Done
  • Unprioritized, Must have, Nice to have
  • Unassigned, Bernard, Victor, Marc

Is is worth the development effort in your opinion ?
Would it make your boards even clearer and more align to your domain ?

As far as I’m concerned, we can leave no value. It covers all cases and doesn’t require any unnecessary dev.

When I saw the change, I felt at first that [—no value—] was better than [none].

Then I noticed that [none] was a better answer when I asked myself “what is that card’s dimension value again?”, but with certain dimension labels only.

In conclusion, I feel it is the “—” that conveys the best the idea of an empty dimension, whatever the word in the middle.

NB: I have actually already created a [I’m not decided yet] value for certain dimensions where I needed to pin on it my undecided thought.

So, there is a need to choose the label yourself, right ?

rather a wish than a need
